Micronutrient profile
Reported to contain higher iron, calcium, and zinc levels than the general-rice comparison.
Cultivated only in limited pockets of the fertile Terai belt, Sidhartha Kala Namak Rice carries an aroma no other grain can imitate — a gift, legend says, from Lord Buddha himself.
A fragrant heritage grain from the land of Buddha.

Kalanamak rice, also known as 'Buddha Rice' made it's way into the Indian heartland with Lord Gautam Buddha.
According to ancient tradition, when Lord Buddha returned to his ancestral kingdom, he bestowed fragrant rice grains upon the villagers as a sacred blessing. He foretold that the harvest would carry an exquisite aroma, serving as an eternal reminder of his presence and teachings.
Cultivation is traced to the early Buddhist period.
Kalanamak rice received its Geographical Indication tag.
Recognised in the FAO publication Speciality Rices of the World.
One of India's oldest heritage rice varieties, cherished for centuries for its remarkable aroma and cultural significance.
Delicate, slender grains that cook fluffy, remain soft and pair beautifully with every cuisine.
An aroma that arrives before the meal.
Cultivated in limited pockets of Eastern U.P. and celebrated for its distinctive character, Kalanamak Rice remains one of India's most treasured rice varieties.

— Understanding glycemic index —
The Glycemic Index (GI) measures how quickly a food is digested and converted into glucose, affecting blood sugar levels. With a naturally low GI of 49–52, Kalanamak rice is among the lowest GI rice varieties available today.
Note : Glycemic response varies by preparation, portion, and individual. People managing diabetes should follow guidance from a qualified healthcare professional.
— Grain benefits —
Kalanamak rice is a natural source of iron, copper, magnesium, and zinc. These micronutrients contribute to normal body functions as part of a varied, balanced diet.
Reported to contain higher iron, calcium, and zinc levels than the general-rice comparison.
Cultivated traditionally without fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides.
Lower amylose helps the cooked grain remain soft, while its natural aroma becomes pronounced.

— Straight from the source —
Every grain is grown in the mineral-rich Terai belt of Eastern Uttar Pradesh — the soil that gives Kala Namak its signature aroma. Tended by families who have farmed these fields for generations, then packed unpolished, with nothing added.
